Gratitude is based in Borehamwood Herts, fights hunger and food waste. We take food that’s good to eat but can’t be sold in shops because of packaging errors or overproduction. We then redistribute it to the community through various free meals projects, community pantry and our network of local charities
Our mission
Our mission is to benefit members, vulnerable members of the public and the public at large. This includes people with disabilities, mental or physical health issues, those in advanced age, people experiencing or at risk of poverty or financial hardship, and others who are disadvantaged or socially marginalised, in the UK and potentially with partners overseas.
We aim to provide opportunities for learning, self-development and social inclusion through the provision of food, consumables, training and resources, within a social setting or at residences.
We also promote awareness of social and environmental responsibility among these groups, encouraging a mindful and healthy lifestyle. Our work aims to strengthen local communities through social cohesion and healthy exchanges, while encouraging and supporting a culture of volunteering time or expertise.
Finally, we encourage all participants to care for the environment by reducing waste, reusing and recycling, and to act according to the principles of nonviolence towards all people and other species in pursuit of these goals.
